Our goal at Theory Talks is to bridge the gap between lectures and research here at ETH. We want to expose you to what lies beyond the standard curriculum in theoretical physics. That’s why we are hosting a talk series where scientist, from professors to PHDs, provide insight into their respective fields and research. Ranging over topics like theoretical cosmology, the nature of randomness, quantum simulations, mathematical physics and many more. We look forward to seeing you at the talks!
Hey, my name is Matan and I‘m studying physics in my Master’s at ETH. My interests lie in theoretical cosmology and early universe physics as well as field theories applied on particle physics and cosmology. At Theory Talks I‘m responsible for organisation and the communication with the speakers.
Hello, my name is Timon and I’m a master student in physics at ETH. I’m interested in many aspects of mathematical physics. In particular, the geometrical backbone of physical theories such as gauge theories and general relativity. As a co-organiser at Theory Talks, I’m in charge of the finances.
Hello there! I’m Jan and I’m the odd one out when it comes to interests. My degree already sets the tone: I’m a Master student in Quantum Engineering at the ETH. My interests lie in the computational aspects of quantum physics and – dare I say it – chemistry. I used to organise the Quantum Paper Club, but now I’ve defected in order to start Theory Talks, which gives me an insight into the innermost circles of theory. Here I’m the organiser responsible for the annoucements of the talks and anything IT-related.
